Newbury Networks Wins DEMOmobile DEMOgod Award for Outstanding Performance

BOSTON- Sept. 25, 2002 - Newbury Networks Inc., the first and only supplier of 802.11-based Location-Enabled Network solutions (LENs), today announced that it was awarded its second consecutive DEMOgod honor by IDG Executive Conference's DEMOmobile producers for an outstanding performance at the show, which ended Friday, September 20.

The company won for its demonstration of LocaleServer 3.0, a software platform that enables IT professionals at universities, museums, public hotspots and enterprises to manage wireless local-area networks (WLANs) by location. While on-stage, Newbury demonstrated an application provisioning content and network access by location. The Newbury demonstration team also gave the executive audience a live view of the 802.11-based traffic on the session floor through its Mobile Monitoring and Analysis(tm) "dashboard."

LocaleServer 3.0, which is currently deployed at a number of customer sites, provisions, manages and monitors network and application services by location - capabilities only Newbury is delivering to its customers in a variety of industries and markets.

"We're thrilled to be honored by DEMOmobile, one of the industry's most prestigious executive technology conferences," said Michael Maggio, president and CEO, Newbury Networks. "Location-based technology is the future of 802.11-based applications and wireless networks. Our customers in key vertical markets have validated this and discovered innovative ways to use location-based services for enhancing customer satisfaction and workforce productivity."

During DEMOmobile, the company also announced three new packaged applications: LENs Digital Concierge-Docent (tm), Hotspot Management(tm) and Mobile Monitoring and Analysis(tm). These three applications deliver immediate benefits to customers running location-enabled networks.

Newbury Networks was one of only eight suppliers honored at the show. According to DEMOmobile producers Chris Shipley and Amy Francetic, "Chosen for their style, passion, and clarity, these DEMO Gods(tm) have a unique ability to spot a great product and position it in the market, to show off its most compelling features and differentiate it from other products -- all while entertaining a tough and critical DEMOmobile audience along the way."
